Simon Paler

Simon has worked in client locations across North America, the Caribbean, the EU, several African countries, India and the Middle East as an accountant, tax adviser and corporate finance specialist.  He is currently one of the Principal Consultants to GOLDING CONSULTING.


Career:
  Simon was Executive Director of Ernst & Young Caribbean based in Trinidad & Tobago - a position he held for three years until October 2006. He specialised in transactional advisory work assisting corporate clients in gaining greater fiscal and financial efficiency, ensuring more profitable business outcomes. 


Before that he spent a productive year in the UK in land and property development operating his own firm.  This followed two years as UK Tax Director of Accenture based in London.  Prior to that he spent four years working in ‘the City’ with CDC, a UK government quango advising on mergers, acquisitions and divestments.


Before his financial institutional experience, Simon was Group Tax Accountant for four years for Laura Ashley PLC, a leading UK retailer of apparel and homeware. Before embarking on his financial career Simon spend six years serving in the British Army.

rofessional: Simon's professional training began with Ernst & Young in the UK qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (ACA, FCA) and later on as a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) and professional Member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (AMCT).


Ac
ademic: Simon graduated from Reading University with a BA(Hons) in History and has taken several postgraduate courses in tax, finance and management.  He has trained staff in most of his career posts and contributed to seminars and professional publications.
