Lewis has worked in client locations across North America, Central America and Europe as an investment advisor, life coach and financial commentator. His client groups are wealthy families, owner-managed businesses, retirees, widows and entrepreneurs.

 

He is President of Walker Capital Management Corporation, a fee-based comprehensive financial planning firm based in Norcross, Georgia, near Atlanta. For 30 years he has run his own independent financial planning and investment management practice in the United States.  Lewis is widely recognised in the financial services industry as a forward- thinking visionary, communicator and coach. He is known by the term ‘The Investment Coach™’.

 

Lewis’s previous experience prior to establishing Walker Capital included service as a USAF officer (Vietnam, 1964) and sales and marketing positions with two airlines and a real estate investment firm.

 

Academic: Lewis graduated from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Washington, DC in 1960 and received his MBA from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, in 1971. He gained his Certified Financial Planner® designation from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado, in 1975. Since then he has taken many courses on tax, finance, asset management, risk management, compliance as well as on economic history and life coaching. Currently he serves on the Board of Directors of the Wealth Advisor Institute (WAI), Washington DC, and is on the Education Committee.

 

Professional: Lewis is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), a Certified Investment Management Consultant (CIMC®), a Certified Retirement Counsellor (CRC®) and a Parent Care Specialist (PCS). He is a professional member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and a past member of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners (ICFP), now merged into the FPA. From 1986-1988 he held the posts of national President and Chairman of the ICFP. From 1998-1999 he was national President of the Institute of Certified Investment Management Consultants (ICIMC) and oversaw the merger into the Investment Management Consultants Association (ICMA).

 

Lewis has appeared on numerous news shows and financial management programs.  He has been a featured speaker on financial and investment topics for colleges, universities, professional associations, convention groups and corporations in the US and overseas. 

 

Industry Recognition: In 1999 Lewis Walker received the John B Keeble Award for Integrity and Excellence presented by the Investors Financial Group. In 2002 he received the Financial Planning Association of Georgia Honors Award for his significant contribution to the development of the financial planning profession. He has also been recognized as one of the leading financial advisors in the US by several publications including 'Money', 'Worth', 'Financial Planner', 'Investment Advisor' and 'Financial Advisor' magazines and in J K Lasser’s New Rules for Estate and Tax Planning.  Lewis is listed in the 2005-2006 edition of Guide To America’s Best Financial Planners published by Consumer’s Research Council of America. In April 2004 The Money Management Institute (MMI) recognized Lewis with its prestigious Pioneer Award for his work in blending holistic financial planning precepts with fee-based separate account management.

 

Publications: Lewis Walker is the Economic Literacy Analyst for 'Free Market News Network', (www.freemarketnews.com) and he authors a column on “future trends” for the 'Journal of Financial Planning'. He writes a weekly column The Investment Coach™ for the 'Dunwoody Crier' newspaper. His columns also appear in the 'Inside Gwinnett' newspaper and on the web at www.mybigwebpage.com. He is a contributing author in the book Retirement Income Redesigned: Master Plans for Distribution (Bloomberg 2006).
