Financial Career: Jon has worked in client locations across the EU, North America, Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, Middle East and Far East as a Private Banker, Wealth Manager, Financial Planner, Tax Advisor and Asset Protection Specialist. His client groups were owner-managed businesses, globally-dispersed families, entrepreneurs and expatriates. He is the Principal of Golding Consulting in the UK which provides business development coaching services to private banking and wealth management executives. He is also Chairman of Golding Consulting Limited serving clients in the Caribbean region through its team of international Consultants.
Prior to establishing Golding Consulting Limited he was Head of the Private Wealth Management Division (2002 - 2005) of the RBTT Financial Group, the largest financial group in the Caribbean and Central America. Before that he was CEO of a Silicon Valley-based, Internet publishing company, TheIrishPlace.com, Inc. (1999-2001).
For 20 years from 1979 he held senior positions with the London-based Sterling Westminster Group, a global private wealth management and tax advisory group. Clients were mainly very high-net-worth individuals and business owners from the Middle East, India, Sweden, United States, Canada and Caribbean. The group had offices in London & Jersey (UK), Atlanta, GA (USA), Doha (Qatar) and New Delhi (India). Prior to that he was Regional Manager with a private investment bank in Doha, Qatar, owned by members of the ruling Al-Thani family which underwrote Eurobond issues and managed substantial private wealth (1975-1979). Jon's financial career started in 1973 when he joined merchant bank, Old Broadstreet Securities Ltd, in London to learn about money, absent from his engineering education.
IT Career: Jon Golding began his IT career in 1965 with GEC in the UK with overseas assignments in Trinidad and Germany. In 1970 He joined ICL and became a Systems Engineer working on the BBC and Harrods accounts. He also ran his own IT consultancy, Information Security Limited, in London (1980 to 2000) developing software and advising small firms.
Academic: BSc(Hons) Electronic Engineering (Southampton University); part LLM – Securities and Arbitration law (London University); Corporate Finance course (Templeton College, Oxford University); the Banking Diploma (Chartered Institute of Bankers, London), qualifying exams Institute of Credit Management (London) and various IT, finance and tax courses.
Professional: Member of the Guild of International Bankers (London); Associate Member of the Academy of Business Strategy (London, New York); Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB); Fellow of the Securities and Investment Institute (FSI); Associate Member of the Institute of Financial Planning (AIFP); Member of the Personal Finance Society (Cert PFS); retired Fellow of the Institute of Credit Management (FICM); retired Fellow of the Life Insurance Association (FLIA); founder member of the Institute of Financial Planning (UK); Council Member for five years and a keynote speaker at several annual conferences; founder President and Member of the Caribbean Financial Planning Association (MCFP); Registered Investment Advisor with the Trinidad & Tobago Securities & Exchange Commission (since 2005); Chartered Information Technology Professional (CITP); Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS).
Publications: Jon authored The Tips & Traps of Going Global (1995 Scope, UK), was International Markets columnist for Personal Financial Planning (Warren, Gorham Lamont, New York) for 7 years, has published several articles, appeared on radio and TV in the UK, USA and Trinidad and spoken at over 76 major financial conferences in 16 countries.
