Alex has worked in client locations across North America, the Caribbean and Central America as an Chartered Accountant, Investment Banker, Bank Treasurer and Portfolio Manager. He is currently the Finance Director of Golding Consulting Limited.

Career: For the past two years Alex has run his own private tax, consultancy and accountancy practice advising some of the larger Trinidad-based public and private companies. Prior to that, he was Group CFO of AIC Financial Group Limited in Trinidad & Tobago, part of the Canadian based AIC Group, one of the largest private mutual fund companies in Canada. 

Before that he was Treasurer of RBTT Bank Limited in Trinidad, one of the largest and oldest banks in the Caribbean region (formerly Royal Bank of Trinidad & Tobago and Royal Bank of Canada in Trinidad). RBTT Bank is the retail and commercial banking flagship of RBTT Financial Holdings Limited, the largest capitalised public company on the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange. 

At RBTT Alex managed an investment portfolio of over US$1.5 Billion and ran foreign exchange trading desks with profits in the region of US$10 MM. Alex joined the RBTT Financial Group in 1997 to work for RBTT Merchant Bank Ltd, the largest merchant bank in the Caribbean and Central America.  He participated in the underwriting of several significant bond issues for the Trinidad & Tobago government and other CARICOM governments. He managed multi-currency portfolios of US$700MM and oversaw the finance function of several overseas banking subsidiaries for the Group.

Prior to RBTT, Alex was Financial Manager of Laughlin & De Gannes Ltd, the largest wholesaler and retailer of automotive parts and accessories in Trinidad & Tobago and the major distributor of Yamaha motor cycles. Before that he was Financial Controller of the Nicholas Development Group, a large locally owned investment and real estate group operating its own hotels and rental properties in Canada, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados and Grenada.  Prior to that he was Chief Financial Controller of Caribbean Housing Ltd, a major local property group.  The group’s activities included land and housing development (building over 1,000 houses), property management, mall operation, manufacturing and retailing.

Professional: Alex began his professional training with Ernst & Young (1975-1982) as an external auditor in Trinidad & Tobago and worked in the UK to become a certified accountant.  His professional designations include qualification as a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA) and professional membership as a chartered accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad & Tobago (CA).
